What's Included in a Standard Clean vs. a Deep Clean?

Published January 27, 2026

"Standard" and "deep" cleaning get used almost interchangeably in casual conversation, but they cover meaningfully different scopes of work — and knowing the difference helps you book the right service the first time.

What a standard clean covers

A standard cleaning visit is built for maintenance. It covers the surfaces and rooms that need attention every time: kitchen counters, appliance exteriors, sinks, bathroom sanitizing, dusting of reachable surfaces, vacuuming, and mopping. It's the visit type most recurring weekly or bi-weekly plans are built around.

What a deep clean adds

A deep clean starts with everything in a standard visit and adds the detail work that doesn't need attention every week: baseboards, door frames, light switch plates, grout and tile scrubbing, the interior of the oven, cabinet fronts, behind and under furniture where accessible, and window sills and tracks.

When to book which one

If your home has been professionally cleaned recently and you're maintaining a routine, a standard clean is usually the right call. If it's been months since the last deep attention — or you're starting a recurring plan for the first time — a deep clean is the better starting point, since it brings the home fully current before switching to routine maintenance visits.

Do recurring plans ever need a deep clean?

Yes, periodically. Most homes on a consistent weekly or bi-weekly schedule only need a full deep clean once or twice a year, since the routine visits prevent the kind of buildup a deep clean is designed to remove.
